Tesla R&D

Tesla’ research and development is key to it’s innovations and growth. It can be attributed to Tesla’ authority in the electric car industry.

Tesla performs various kinds of tests to maintain its authority and influence.
Just a while ago, in October 2018 Tesla Inc setup its first overseas R&D innovation center in Beijing. The center is made with focus on areas such as software and hardware development, localization, China and Asia-Pacific data analysis, intelligent connected vehicles and charging technology.

According to Xinhuanet, Tesla has tapped into China’s growing mainstream electric car market. The electric car company Tesla has also established its charging network covering most cities in the China’s developed regions, such as the Yangtze River Delta in east China, and the Pearl River Delta in the south.

Tesla Model S Plaid Mode

Some years ago, Tesla launched Ludicrous Speed, (which is an upgrade to Tesla’ Model S sedan), Tesla promised that “Maximum Plaid” would be the next thing to come.

Fast forward to now, the promised upgrade to Tesla Model S Ludicrous mode is on the way. Now Plaid is getting tested on Laguna Seca track.

Tesla’ plaid mode is faster than Tesla’ Ludicrous mode, because Plaid mode runs on 3 motors! It’s been a long way before arriving at a three-motor version of a Tesla vehicle. When Model S was newly released back in 2012, it had just a single motor, and it powers only the rear wheels.

Dual all-wheel drive version with a motor for each axle arrived in 2014. Now Tesla Model S is currently not anymorr available in single motor configuration. The double motor version is the only configuration available for the Model S.

I have a detailed description of Tesla Model S powertrain…

Now, Tesla is upping the ante with a third motor. RoandandTrack did a very good job with more information on the three-motor Tesla Plaid mode.
