The New Year is finally arriving and with the New Year comes an entire slew of latest films hitting the large screen. And interestingly, the 2020 new movie schedule features a robust roster of big-budget action pics. The exciting return of the many beloved magazine heroes and a few terrifying new horror outings.

Comic magazine category is seeing a brand new milestone, as four of the more major adaptations are being helmed by women including Cathy Yan’s Birds of Prey, Wonder Woman 1984 by Patty Jenkins’, Black Widow by Cate Shortland’s and Chloé Zhao’s The Eternals. The genre can also finally witness the much-awaited debut of The New Mutants by Josh Boone alongside subsequent two installments in Sony’s Marvel Cinematic Universe — Venom 2 and Morbius.

The year also has in-line-up many live-action adaptations video games and even a Disney classic with not only Mulan, but also with Sonic the Hedgehog by Paramount Pictures — the later, is seeing renewed interest from numerous fans — after the newest trailer highlighting the character’s drastic re-design, and Uncharted by Sony Pictures. (Sony Pictures Uncharted confirmed Tom Holland (Spider-Man: Far From Home) to star earlier this year as a younger Nathan Drake, Mark Wahlberg (Instant Family) as his partner — while Sully and Travis Knight (Bumblebee) set to direct.

The horror movie category is also looking to find another spark in the line-up for 2020 upcoming movies. After a successful 2019 with A Quiet Place: Part II, — then Sony’s reboot of The Grudge. Next is the highly-anticipated remake of Invisible Man from Leigh Whannell (Upgrade), the Candyman remake starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Watchmen), the third installment within the primary Conjuring series and therefore the next installment within the rebooted Halloween franchise.
